Welcome to All Saints CE VC Junior School
Welcome to the All Saints’ Church of England Voluntary Controlled Junior School website. My name is Mr Robin Petch and I have been the headteacher here since September 2011.
We are a large Junior school with 385 pupils on roll split into 14 classes. Our intake is from an extremely wide social and geographical background. We are extremely popular and many pupils attend from outside our catchment area through parental preference. However, our capacity of 480 means that we usually have places available.
Our large numbers allow us to set children by ability. We do this in Mathematics in each year group and in English in Years 5 and 6. Our support for vulnerable pupils, and those with Special Educational Needs, was described ns exemplary by OfSTED. You can read many more positive comments about our “Good” school in the OfSTED report elsewhere on our website. Inspectors from the York Diocese also conducted a Church school inspection and graded us “Outstanding.” A copy of this report is also available on the website.
We have strong links with All Saints Church and an ethos based on Christian principles but we are in most respects no different from any other local authority school. We welcome pupils of all faiths and none, and are very proud of our inclusive, positive and respectful working environment.
In order to avoid any confusion, it may help parents to know that although we work in partnership with, and share the same name, site and a similar uniform as All Saints CE (VC) Infant school, we are in fact two entirely separate schools with different Head Teachers and governing bodies. If you are moving into the area and have children of both Infant and Junior age you need to apply to both schools.
We welcome visits by parents or carers of prospective pupils and I will happily show you round the school personally, and answer any questions you may have. Just contact the office to make an appointment. Similarly, I will always make myself available to meet current parents and carers.
Hopefully you will find this developing website useful but if you find any errors or omissions, please do use the contact form to let us know or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Yours sincerely
Mr R Petch
